In November, the good folks at Waller Street Brewing selected PCCNO as the recipient of their latest "Flights For Hope" fundraising event. Known as "Ottawa's tiny little Prohibition Craft Brewery", the Waller Street Brewing team (Marc-Andre and Marie-Eve Chainey, Eli Dagher and George Bush) believe that being part of a community means taking part and giving back which includes supporting local causes and events. Flights for Hope is their way of helping out some of the smaller local charities, non-profits, and other fund-raising efforts.
The Flights for Hope program consists of 5 samples of their locally sourced beer for $10 with $2 from every flight going straight to a chosen cause. During their November event this simple concept resulted in raising $326.00.
Recently, I ventured down to the Waller Street on a cold late December evening to accept the cheque on behalf of PCCNO from David Campion-Smith, who provided some samples of Waller Street Brewing beers which were extremely good (I highly recommend the "Bootleg Blonde" and "Speakeasy Red"). Thanks to everyone at Waller Street Brewing for their efforts on our behalf, the funds you raised will be used to support local prostate cancer initiatives and help PCCNO continue it's efforts to help and support men and their families who are dealing with prostate cancer and in promoting awareness of this disease and the associated issues.
Waller Street Brewing is located at 14 Waller Street, in the basement level under "The Loft Board Game Lounge". If you're in the Market area and feeling thirsty, consider dropping by to sample their products (and make sure to thank them for supporting PCCNO !),
